The National President of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, Malam Abdulazeez Sirajudeen Folayemi, made the plea at the 60th anniversary lecture of the association for the South South zone, held in Port Harcourt.
Folayemi regretted that the major academic activities in schools located in the South are all in the Christian way, noting that Muslim communities in the region deserve to be given equal treatment.
 “Assembly is conducted in the church style; the school uniform and even the educational setting have only given room to Christian culture with no respect for Islamic principles. Even though we have started witnessing changes with the approval for the use of Islamic dress code in Muslim and community schools in Ekiti and Oyo states, we still need more recognition in all government owned public schools,” he stated.
