In line with participatory democracy, every citizen is deemed to be a stakeholder in the political, social and economic scheme of things. I think, with this democratic ideals in mind, practical suggestions by citizens to move Kano State and Nigeria forward may not be out of order. 

Therefore, I want to urge Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to invest the Paris Club refund money that came to the state in laudable projects. His Excellency, should as a matter of priority pursue his ‘Karkara salamu alaikum policy’  with renewed vigour to open up rural towns and villages with a view to boosting agricultural and economic activities. Rural dwellers are in dire need of government presence in their lives in other to have a sense of belonging and justify their immense contributions to all the electoral processes conducted in the state.

The governor should also declare a state of emergency in the education, water supply and health sectors respectively, to tackle myriads of problems besetting the sectors in the state. Of course, I must acknowledge the fact that so much has been done, especially, the completion of the two abandoned general hospitals at Hausawa Zoo Road and Giginyu Quarters, but more still need to be done. 

Also, for Kano to be truly a mega city and retain its position as the most developed commercial and cultural nerve centre of northern Nigeria; the city must be re-modelled completely.

In line with that aspiration, the following roads should be converted to multiple lanes: Kofar Na’isa to Mandawari Sabon Titi road; Gidan Shettima to Mambayya House through Makwarari; Dan Agundi to Emir’s palace; Dan Agundi to Hasiya Bayero via Gwangwazo; Emir’s palace to Kasuwar Kurmi via Shahuci; Jakara Kasuwa to IBB way through Dukawa; Zoo road to BUK road through Sharada and finally completion of Wuju-Wuju road project which was initiated by former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. 

When work is completed, these roads will help to boost economic activities among other things.
