A loud explosion and gunshots were heard on Friday morning in Potiskum town of Yobe state.

Our correspondent gathered from residents that the sound was from the College of Administrative and Business Studies (CABS), Potiskum.

A resident in the area Malam Mustafa Ilyasu said it was a suicide bomb attack.

“A suicide bomber came into the school shooting sporadically before he detonated the bomb. We are not sure of the number of casualties but I saw hospital ambulance conveying people to Potiskum General Hospital,” he said.

The suicide bomber injured seven other people at  school in Potiskum local government area of Yobe state. The bomber who was carrying an AK47 riffle shot sporadically at the college entrance gate and forced his way into the school premises where he shot seven others.

 Police Public Relation officer, Mr Toyin Gbadegesin confirmed the incident saying the bomber killed him-self in the process and injured several others.

“The bomber ran out of ammunition and attempted to escape but later detonated the explosive to avoid being caught by people. Many students that attempted to scale the college parameter fence sustained injuries,” a witness said.

 Hospital source confirmed that seven people that sustained gunshot have been hospitalised at the Potiskum general hospital.

Daily Trust gathered that the school resumed session few weeks ago even though most of the students had refused to return to their hostels for fear of being attacked.

Potiskum town have witnessed frequent suicide bomb attacks in the past that claimed hundreds of lives and injured many.
