A suicide bomber blew himself up on Tuesday and killed 17 others at Dan-Borno Motor Park in Potiskum town, Potiskum Local government area of Yobe state.

Yobe state Police commissioner, Mr. Marcus Danladi confirmed that the bomber entered a 13-seater bus that had loaded Kano bound passengers and detonated the explosive. “He disguised as a passenger and detonated the bomb inside a bus that was fully loaded with passengers going to Kano.

Thirteen people including the suicide bomber died on the spot and the 31 people injured have been taken to hospital,” the commissioner said. “Enough Metal detectors have been provided to the National Union of Road Traffic Workers (NURTW) official to check every passenger coming in but to my surprise, the motor parks have become areas of soft targets,” he lamented.

A source at the Potiskum General Hospital said 17 corpses were deposited at the hospital morgue while 31 injured are currently receiving treatment. “Thirteen people were brought dead while four others died here in the hospital,” he said. Last Sunday, a little girl suspected to be seven years killed herself and five other people in the Potiskum GSM market.
