Saturday, December 1, 2018 was a historic day for the Sule Lamido University Kafin-Hausa as it staged its first convocation. The convocation was a landmark in the history of the university.

I extol Sule Lamido for establishing Jigawa State University Kafin-Hausa in order to afford state indigenes more access to higher education opportunities.

Before the establishment of the state University, many eligible candidates of Jigawa origin who seek admission into higher institutions in other universities fail to get it due to lack of opportunities, hence the warm welcome with which Jigawa citizens received the establishment of the state university, which was named after Sule Lamido, the former Jigawa state governor. Dr. Sule Lamido attended the convocation ceremony at the university premises and he received cheers, praises, appreciation and commendation with students and supporters chanting Sai Lamido, godiya muke, meaning Lamido we are indeed, grateful.

I still want use this opportunity to congratulate professor Abdullahi Ribadu, the outgoing Vice Chancellor of Sule Lamido University Kafin-Hausa in Jigawa state and the incoming (new) vice chancellor, Professor Lawan Sani Taura.

I wish the new VC Allah’s help, guidance and protection. May He give him the ability, patient and wisdom to discharge his work diligently and effectively.

As for the outgoing VC, Professor Ribadu, we thank God Almighty for giving him the ability, wisdom, patient, courage, endurance, understanding and passion to pilot the affairs of this standard and modern university which is one of the best in West Africa built by the former governor, Sule Lamido. We will remain ever grateful to you for the contributions to move the varsity this far.

Your vast experience, dedication and selfless service to Nigeria and humanity in general will never be in vain, In-Sha-Allah.

I would also like to acknowledge and commend one unsung Fulani boy, Ahmed Mohammmed of Rugar Kanawa Afarake, who attended a nomadic school founded by Lamido, and gained admission and graduated from the University. He came out with first class in Chemistry with result 400 GPA 5.0 CGPA 4.69 despite all odds.
