Sultan, ACF mourn Obj’s ex-CoS, Abdullahi Mohammed

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Major General Abdullahi Mohammed (rtd), former Chief of Staff to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo.

In a condolence message issued by his media team on Thursday, the Sultan extended heartfelt sympathies to the family of the late General, the Emir of Ilorin, and the government and people of Kwara State over the loss of one of their illustrious sons.

Major General Mohammed, who died on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the age of 86, was described by the Sultan as a “patriotic and disciplined officer” who served Nigeria with distinction.

“Late General Mohammed was not only a fine and brilliant officer but also a patriotic Nigerian, disciplined officer, and a man of unquestionable integrity who dedicated his life to national service,” the Sultan said.

While describing the passing of the elder statesman as “sorrowful though inevitable,” the Sultan praised the late General’s exemplary record in both military and civil service, noting that his contributions to national development would be long remembered.

Similarly, the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed sadness over the death of Major-General Mohammed.

The ACF, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Prof. TA Muhammad-Baba, said the deceased was by every measure a distinguished and illustrious patriot, nationalist, courageous, humble and self-effacing personality, who gave his very best in serving Nigeria meritoriously.

The body said the late General Mohammed had pursued a military career during which he distinguished himself, with accolades, in commanding posts that helped secure the nation.

The ACF also sent heartfelt condolences to his family, the Federal Government of Nigeria, the government and people of Kwara State, the Emir of Ilorin and his Council, as well as members of the Kwara State Chapter of the body, praying that Allah SWT grants Gen. Mohammed mercies and a peaceful repose in Al-Jannah Firdaus.
