A statement by the Wambai of Sokoto, Ahmed Abdulkadir, for the Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, said the declaration followed the confirmation of the sighting of the new moon of Dhul Hijjah on Thursday.
The statement said the committee received reports from various moon sighting committees across the country and that the Sultan has accepted the report.
It said Sultan Sa’ad therefore declared yesterday, October 28, as the 1st day of Dhul Hijjah and November 6 as the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, which will also be the Eid el-Kabir day.
