This was one of the resolutions at the 7th World Summit for Children and Media organised by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union and the World Summit on Media for Children Foundation held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Participants called on media professionals to be responsible in their conduct as children and youth tend to emulate what they see in the media.
While appreciating the ample opportunities presented by the internet, the participants, however, charged parents to monitor what their children are consuming and for regulatory bodies to be alive to their duties.
Over 3,000 producers, broadcasters, media regulators, educators and community leaders attended the summit. Officers of from the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Voice of Nigeria (VON) and Children and Young Persons Development Centre attended from Nigeria.
