Resurgent Sunshine Stars outclassed Lobi Stars 3-0 in the Nigeria Professional Football League MatchD9 fixture played yesterday at the Akure township stadium.

Lobi Stars ended the match with 10 men after ace defender Moses Tsehuan was sent off for an off-the-ball incident in the 90th minute of the match.

The visitors fell behind as early as the 19th minute when Samson Olasupo put the hosts in front with a calm finish from close range. Former Enyimba player, Ugochukwu Leonard, doubled Sunshine Stars’ lead in the 17th minute before Olasupo got his brace in the 27th minute.

On resumption Lobi Stars fought hard to reduce the deficit but their only chance came in the 34 minute when returnee defensive midfielder Raphael Ayagwa picked Austin Ogunye who unfortunately fired his attempt off-target.

In Aba, Enyimba subdued resilient Katsina United 2-1. Captain Austin Oladapo broke the deadlock in the 44th minute after his low free kick came off the wall but he was the quickest to hammer the second attempt into the bottom corner on half volley from 25 yards.

Luck smiled on the visitors when Somiari Alalibo headed Dauda Madaki’s corner into his own net in the 61st minute but the parity was short-lived as Enyimba were awarded a penalty which Chukwuemeka Obioma converted in the 64th minute to hand the ‘Peoples elephants’ a crucial 2-1 victory.

Meanwhile, Heartland’s misery continued even at home as substitute Mark Daniel scored at the death to give Kano Pillars a crucial 1-0 win.
