A look at the results posted by the two clubs in last week’s matches shows that Sunshine Stars who played at home defeated hard fighting Rangers FC of Enugu 2-0 with goals from deadly striker Ukeyima Akombo and Ifeanyi Iyam while Sharks got a point off Ocean Boys at the Samson Siasia International Stadium Yenagoa.
Speaking to Trustsports, coach of high riding Sunshine Stars, Gbenga Ogunbote said his team will beat Sharks to go on top of the league table.
He said he has the players who will prosecute the match and he is sure of leaving Port-Harcourt with something positive in his kitty.
Ogunbote who attributed his team’s gun run in the league to God and hard work said the match will not be an easy one because Sharks is a formidable side.
He, however, said if officiating will be fair, he does not see Sharks beating his team.
The coach said most often, referees act as fun spoilers when they make questionable calls.
Ogunbote therefore, urged his players to remain professional and play the match with the desired discipline and commitment.
“We are ready for Sharks. My players are professionals and they know what to do. We know what victory tomorrow (today) will do for us as we aspire to pick one of the continental tickets at the end of the season.
“What I am asking for is a level playing field. If the match is thrown open, I do not see what will stop us from beating Sharks. I do not intend to underrate our opponents but I believe we would come out with something in the match”.
Ogunbote ruled out defensive play as he said they will play offensively to keep their opponents on the defensive.
He said the best way to defend is to keep attacking.
Sunshine Stars will depend largely on Ukeyima, Cletus Itodo and Ifeanyi Iyam to wreck Sharks but they must also watch out for age-less Victor Ezeji, Flying Eagles star, Terry Envoh, Kola Anubi and Ezimorah Chinedu.
