Super Falcons Captain, Onome Ebi has said the nine-time African champions is ready for the 2022 Africa Women Nations Cup to be hosted by Morocco from 2 to 23 July 2022.

The 38-year-old defender who stated this during a Twitter Space organised by CAF on Saturday and monitored by our correspondent said she and her teammates had waited for four years for the draws.

It will be recalled that the draws were held on Friday and Nigeria was grouped in Group C with South Africa, Botswana and Burundi. 

“I was not having any particular country in mind as the 12 teams that qualified are good. I have not played against Botswana and Burundi so I don’t know their strength. I am excited about playing South Africa in the first game as we are rivals.

“It will be interesting and I am excited to play against Burundi and Botswana for the first time. We are Nigerians and we are ready for any team, any time,” Onome said.

The Minsk defender who holds the record for the most FIFA World Cup appearance by an African further stated that it will be a battle among the 12 teams to qualify for the World Cup.

It will be noted that the tournament also doubles as the African qualifiers for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The top four teams will qualify for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
