Rafiu Ladipo, President-General of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC), told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday night in Lagos that it was important for the national team to excel in South Africa.
Ladipo said the club had started mobilising support for the team by organising an awareness rally in Lagos two weeks ago, adding that a second rally would hold in Abuja next week.
He spoke to NAN on the sidelines of the fund raising ceremony of the Nigeria Customs Service for the Comptroller-General Zonal Games in Lagos.
He disclosed that the supporters had mapped out strategies to ensure the Eagles did not fail in the June 11 to July 11 competition.
“We do not want to go to South Africa for the fun of it; we want to go with full force and cheer the Eagles to victory.
“I urge all Nigerians here and abroad to support the Eagles; we cannot do it at a better time than now,’’ Ladipo said.
He said no fewer than 2,000 NFSC members would be in South Africa to cheer the Eagles in their World Cup campaign.
