A mild drama played out yesterday in Nasarawa as supporters of  ex- Inspector General of Police Mohamed Abubakar Adamu and Senator Ahmed Wadada held counter rallies at each other’s home bases.

Supporters of IGP Adamu who is from Lafia took their rally to Keffi, the home base  of Senator Wadada while Wadada’s supporters took theirs to Lafia.

Addressing the rally for ex-IGP Adamu, Isa Nathaniel JP, Chairman of the Contact and Mobilization Team, declared the gathering a “revolution of hope” and a testament to the people’s decision to choose competence over rhetoric.

He said, “The people have chosen competence over rhetoric, compassion over indifference, and a proven leader over empty promises” adding that the gathering is a covenant with the people.

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Aliyu Bello in the rally in support of Wadad, said the party would support and work with whoever the state governor, Abdullahi Sule anoints as candidate of the party.

Bello who made the remark while receiving the Wadada Youth Ambassadors, a group supporting Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu’s governorship bid, said this is because Governor Sule has transformed Lafia, the state capital, to a modern city

“If our late parents and the parents of those saying that Lafia is like a glorified local government headquarters are to come back to this world, they cannot trace the roads to their houses until their hands are held and led to their houses.”

 

“I hope we will all collaborate and work for the success of the candidate in order to continue to have development in the state,” he said.

 

The APC chairman urged supporters to maintain unity and focus on development as the party prepares for the 2027 governorship elections.

 

He emphasized that unity is crucial for the party’s success, saying it is important the APC retains power in Nasarawa beyond 2027.

 

Addressing the rally, chairman of a solidarity group in the state State, Zaidu Aliyu Tanko, expressed the group’s unwavering support for Senator Wadada’s candidacy, citing his track record of service.
