Supreme court clears Saraki for false asset declaration

The Supreme Court has upheld the appeal of Senate President Bukola Saraki and discharged him of the three charges against him over false asset declaration.

In a lead judgment delivered by Justice Centus Nweze on Friday, apex court held that the prosecution failed to establish allegations against Saraki in the remaining charges.

The panel of justices upheld his submission   that relevant witnesses were not called upon to testify in the matter, adding  that those who tendered documentary evidence against Saraki during the trial were not makers of the document, hence, their evidence on the documents were hearsay and lacked probative value.
