Surveyors hold workshop on transformation parameters

 Speaking at the opening ceremony of a 2-day workshop on the adoption of Transformation Parameters for Nigeria held in Abuja, Minister of Works Architect Mike Onolememen   noted that Transformation Parameter are essential database in developed and developing countries of the world because of the importance of a uniform and homogenous coordinated system in the country for seamless and consistent geospatial production.

According to him, the usage of Transformation Parameters  is key to developmental activities in all sector,  adding  that the prevailing situation where different sectors such as the Federal and State Government, oil and gas industry and other multinationals are using different parameter sets does not support uniform infrastructural development and is unacceptable.
 “It is on record that there have been various attempts in the past on the determination of these parameters for the country. In 2012, about this time, a workshop was organizes on this same issue but was inconclusive due to the recommendation for acquisition of more date to improve on the existing ones for better results,” he said.
He charged all the workshop participants to remain focused and resolute to achieve the objectives for which the workshop is organized.
 
 Earlier in his welcome address, Surveyor General of the Federation, Professor P.C Nwilo, stressed the importance of the workshop in infrastructural development of the country.
He  added  that the workshop is to produce suitable set of Transformation Parameters,  which is not  an end in itself but a means to a harmonious physical development of the nation  while imploring all participants to be mindful of this and come- up with an acceptable set of transformation parameters.
