Estate Surveyors in Nigeria have called for the creation of a department or directorate for public assets valuation in the federal ministry of lands as well as the office of the Valuers General of the Federation.
They made this call at the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), Unity Chapter (FCT) seminar held in Abuja.
Speaking at the seminar, chairman of the branch Adamu Kasimu said the theme for this year is “ IPSAS:A Tool for Unlocking the Wealth of a Nation.” IPSAS is the International Public Sector Accounting Standard.
He said the idea stemmed from the need to expand the knowledge base of members on IPSAS, the need for its effective implementation and the ability of members to develop their individual capacity and also network.
President of NIESV Patunola Ajayi, in his remarks, commended the effort of the branch in enlightening members on IPSAS standard implementation in line with global best practices in assets valuation and report writing.
