Surveys’ board wants involvement in housing scheme

Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON) has sought for  collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing  in its scheme to  build   10,000 houses in each state of the federation.

The new chairman of Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON) Olayinka Sonaike, made this call at the inauguration of the board by  the minister of Power, Works and Housing Mr Babatunde Fashola in Abuja.

Sonaike said that  members of the profession were well placed to contribute in the project conception, development, management, valuation and disposal where necessary.

He also called for financial backing from the ministry to enable the Board performs its regulatory role effectively.

He said, “With the passage of the budget by the National Assembly, I request that the budgetary slice due to the board is given to it expeditiously. With financial backing I assure that the ‘Dog’ will bark and bite.’’

Earlier the minister charged them to work towards reducing cost of housing and rents.
