Suspect in court for causing man’s death in Ekiti

The police in Ekiti State have arraigned a 47-year-old man, Mustapha Ismail, in an Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court over allegations of negligence resulting in death.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant on or about December 16, 2025, at Erinjiyan-Ekiti, failed to take proper precautions against a probable danger, thereby causing the death of one Ade Iran Sola, contrary to and punishable under Section 261(1)(h) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Charles Kolawole, urged the court to grant his client bail.

The Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, granted the bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned to January 30, 2026.
