Suspect lost stolen N0.1m – Witness

A witness has told a Lagos magistrates’ court how an accused person being pursued by the police lost N100,000 cash stolen from her handbag.

Mrs Taiwo Abimbola Onifade, during cross examination, told the court that the accused, Lukman Tiamiyu, was nabbed by the police where he made the confession.

Onifade said, “I was at the police station where he confessed that he stole N100,000 from my bag which I kept in my car, but that he lost the N100,000 while fleeing.”

Williams Olakunle and Lukman Tiamiyu are standing trial for stealing a Kia Cerato car with Registration No: GGE 778 HE, valued at N4,500,000.00, property of Mrs Onifade.

According to the police, the duo committed the offence on February 11, 2022, at about 1300hrs at FCMB, Oniru-Victoria Island, Lagos.

The police told the court that the first accused, Williams Olakunle, who was an employee of Mrs Onifade, conspired with Tiamiyu to commit felony to wit; theft.

The police said the duo stole a Kia Cerato car, a Dell laptop, N100, 000 cash, shoes and bags altogether valued at N1,297,000.00, property of Mrs Onifade.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Ogunkanmi, adjourned to October 20.
