Suspected members of a secret cult gang, Badoo, yesterday invaded the home of a pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Fingers of God Parish, Igbogbo, Ikorodu, killing him in the process.

The victim, identified as Victor Kanayo, was found dead by members of the church around 6am yesterday.

 An unspecified number of persons have been arrested and are currently being questioned by detectives attached to the homicide unit of the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti Yaba.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Chike Oti, who confirmed the incident, said the pastor may have been killed by cultists.

He said the life of the deceased before he became a born again Christian is of interest to the police because of a human skull tattoo on his left arm.

He said the tattoo indicated that the victim may have belonged to any of the cult groups.

He said: “On Sunday at about 7am, at Offin, Igbogbo, Lagos, a suburb of Ikorodu town, Lagos, one Victor Kanayo, a male person and a pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God Mission, Fingers of God Parish, Igbogbo, was murdered. 

“However, the command has made a couple of arrests and suspects are being questioned with a view to discover the author of the heinous crime. 

“The commissioner of Police Lagos State has also dispatched a team of crack detectives to unravel those behind the murder; dig into the past of the victim and see if there is a correlation between his past and his fate. 

“The issue of his past before he became a born again Christian is of interest to the police because of a human skull tattoo  drawn on his left arm which gives the victim away as one who may have belonged to any of the dreaded cult groups. 

“Investigation into case is on-going; findings will be made public as usual by the commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi,” the police spokesman said.
