A suspected bag snatcher has been arrested in Gwarinpa. 

Police officers arrested the suspect after he allegedly attempted to snatch a pedestrian’s handbag on Wednesday. 

A police source said the suspect snatched the handbag of one Asia around Chembian Plaza at about 12:30 p.m.

“The victim raised alarm attracting people to the scene and police officers on patrol and he was arrested,” the source said. 

The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, confirmed the incident. 

“Patrol team on routine crime prevention arrested one Ogochukwu Chinaka of Jiwa who snatched the bag of one Asia Umaru of Gede Extension, Kuje, at Chembian Plaza junction,” he said. 

He said the contents of the handbag were recovered. 

“The contents of the bag which included a handset, money, identity card, Bible were recovered,” he said. 

He said the suspect would be prosecuted when investigation was concluded.
