Borno State police command spokesman, ASP Lawal Abdullahi while confirming the incident to Weekly Trust said two people were traced to the central mosque by suspected members. He said the gunmen opened fire when they sighted the victims, killing one instantly, while wounding the other. The 13-year-old boy according to the police authorities was killed by a stray bullet.

The police spokesman said two suspected members of the religious fundamentalists have been arrested by the police in connection with the mosque killings while the principal suspect escaped but has been identified by the police.

ASP Abdullahi also said that another 11 persons have been arrested in connection with the killing of a brother of the District Head.
