The police in Bauchi State have arrested several criminal suspects in various raids across the state.
The suspects were paraded at the state police command with various exhibits allegedly recovered during the operations.
Briefing journalists during the parade, the command’s spokesman, DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar, said following intelligence reports, a black spot was raided at Gwallameji area on June 13 which led to the arrest of two suspected fake codeine manufacturers, Emmanuel Patrick and Victor Oguwu, all of Yelwa area of Bauchi.
He said 71 bottles of locally produced codeine, 30 bottles of Tutolin, one carton of ORS used for codeine production and one pot of blended codeine awaiting refilling were recovered.
Other exhibits reportedly recovered included 100 empty scavenged bottles, 60 bottle tops and 120 product name tags.
Similarly, the police spokesperson disclosed that following a report at GRA Police Division by one, Mohammed Najib of Makwalla, Bauchi who reported that a gang of seven suspected armed robbers robbed him of his motorcycle valued at N190,000, the command arrested the principal suspect, Salisu Ibrahim, aka Lonja, and recovered one cutlass suspected to have been used in the robbery.
In addition, the police said the Command Tactical Team of Operation Puff Adder arrested two suspects, Yusuf Summer of Bogoro town and Sunday Peter of T/Balewa town in connection with the theft of a motorcycle.
He said 46 suspected Sara-Suka thugs were also arrested by the police after raids on various hideouts leading to the recovery of 11 cutlasses, one knife, 31 wraps of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and 170 assorted illicit drugs from the suspects.
Abubakar said 33 of the suspects were charged to court while 13 are in police custody undergoing investigation.
