Suspected cultist arrested with gun in Delta

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested 23-year-old Collins Darlington for alleged involvement in cultism and robbery in the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the suspect was apprehended by operatives of the CP’s Special Assignment Team following intelligence linking him to a series of robberies within the Warri metropolis.

According to Edafe, coordinated surveillance led to the arrest of the suspect, a resident of Ughewughe community in Ughelli South LGA, at the Otor-Uweku area of Ughelli town.

He stated that during interrogation, the suspect led operatives to a bush in the Jedo area of Warri, where a locally made gun concealed in the ground was recovered.

Edafe added that the suspect confessed to being a member of the Aye Confraternity and admitted to involvement in several door-to-door robbery incidents within Warri.

Efforts are currently ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal gang identified during the investigation, the police added.
