A house set ablaze by suspected cultist members after they were said to have went on rampage at Ikwa community in Zuba chiefdom of Gwagwalada area council last Thursday.
Residents of Ikwa community near Zuba town were Thursday night thrown into confusion when some suspected cult members went on rampage and set a house ablaze in the area.
A resident of the area, Emmanuel Jacob, said the incident happened around 02:00am when residents were asleep.
Jacob said the over 20 cult members, some of who were carrying guns, dispossessed some residents of money and handsets before they proceeded to a house and set it on fire because one of their victims ran into the house.
Another resident, Ibrahim Bala, said the activities of the suspected cultists had always posed a big threat to residents of Ikwa, and that they now slept with one eye opened.
Bala said, “In fact, these cult members are responsible for crimes in this area as they sometimes attack innocent people, especially when a clash breaks out between rival groups.”
The Agora of Zuba, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Umar, said he was saddened by the activities of the suspected cultists in the area, and that he would summon an emergency security meeting with community leaders, security agents and ward heads to deliberate on how to tame their activities.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Zuba, CSP Karim Lamido, did not pick calls put across to him.
However, a police officer at the division confided in our reporter that 16 suspects had been arrested in connection with last Thursday’s attack.
