Police in Kwara State have arrested Olamide, popularly known as “Bold,” a suspected drug peddler, and recovered a locally made firearm in the Amoyo area of Ifelodun Local Government Area.
The suspect was linked to a suspicious gathering that drew the attention of a police team during a routine visibility patrol in the Gbagba axis of Amoyo. Officers reportedly spotted three young men inside an uncompleted building. On sighting the police, the individuals fled the scene through the windows into a nearby bush.
During the chase, a small bag dropped by one of the fleeing suspects was recovered. It contained a locally made double-barrel pistol, a police source said.
Police spokeswoman, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust.

She stated that Olamide is “notorious for dealing in Indian hemp and other substances in the area.
“Efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining suspects who escaped.”
The command, Adetoun further noted, assured residents of continued efforts to rid communities of criminal elements and urged the public to share information that could aid investigations.
