A suspected herder in Kaoje area of Bagudo local government of Kebbi State has allegedly killed a police inspector sent to arrest him over an offence he allegedly committed.

It was gathered that the suspect whose name was given as Babuga Manu Kwarra used his cutlass to cut the police inspector in the neck and he died before he could be taken to the hospital for treatment.

A farmer in the area had gone to the police station to lodge a complaint about the herder who he claimed led his cows to his farm to eat up his crops.

The police inspector, Umaru Danladi, according to the police was sent to arrest him over the complaint that was lodged against him.  

However, as they were going he suddenly drew his cutlass and struck the police man from behind, police sources said.

The Kebbi police command spokesman, DSP Mustapha Suleiman, confirmed the incident. He said the suspect has been arrested and is currently facing prosecution.
