Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have rescued a kidnapping victim, Rebecca Mathew, and arrested one suspect, Bila Halili (30) in connection with the crime.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Abaniwonda Olufemi, said the suspect was arrested in Agbor with the help of a local vigilante group after police received intelligence about him.
He was allegedly holding the victim against her will.
Police trailed the suspect to his residence in the Oza Nogogo community, where they found him with the victim, who had reportedly been kidnapped on August 11, 2015.
“The DPO and his team, alongside members of the local vigilante, rescued the victim, identified as Rebecca Mathew from Bodinga community in Washegu Local Government Area, Niger State,” the commissioner said. He said the suspect, from Kosso community, Sokoto State, was arrested.
