The police in Niger State have arrested two suspects believed to be part of a robbery gang that killed a superintendent of police during a robbery in Suleja town, Suleja LGA of the state.

Sadiq Mohammed, aka Spido, 23, and Abdullahamid Aliyu, aka Dogon Soja, 25, both of Madalla in Suleja Council were said to belong to an 8-man gang terrorising residents of Suleja and environs.

They were alleged to have killed Superintendent Omale Simon serving under Borno command during a robbery operation at Storm Star Hotel, Suleja on November 15, 2018.

Mohammad and Aliyu, according to a statement by the Niger State Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Muhammad D. Inna Abubakar, were arrested by detectives attached to the Madalla Division on December 9, 2018.

He said the assailants also robbed other hotel customers of their belongings, adding that during police investigation, the two suspects in custody confessed to the crime.

He however said members of the gang are still at large.

DSP Abubakar also disclosed that the command recorded a breakthrough in the ongoing war against illicit drugs following the arrest of one Ikechukwu Okwor, a notorious kingpin who has been in police radar for long.

He said operatives from F-SARS, Minna arrested the suspect after executing a search warrant in his chemist at Gwada in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.

“During police investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime while the following illicit drugs; (1) 28 cartons of Codeine (2) Dizapan (3) Ezol-5 (4) Nitrozepan (Maga) (5) Refinor, valued N4,022,900 were recovered from his possession,” he explained.

The police, he further said, arrested one Isah Aliyu aka Jesus, of Angwan Daji, in Minna with a full sack of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp inside a Keke Napep on December 15, 2018.

According to him, the suspect confessed to belonging to a 5-man gang selling the said dry leaves to youth at Maitumbi up-hills in Minna metropolis.
