Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested two suspects over alleged organ trafficking and unlawful organ harvesting.

The suspects, Blessing Mongo, 47, and Esther Meeting, 32, were accused of facilitating the trafficking of a 19-year-old victim to Burkina Faso, where her womb was allegedly removed.

Police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the case was reported on April 3, 2026, by a woman from Ekpan community in Uvwie, who noticed her daughter was ill after returning from a visit to her father in Okpaka.

The victim disclosed that in September 2025, she and two friends were recruited by Mongo and introduced to Meeting and another suspect, Onome, for trafficking to Ivory Coast for prostitution.

She said shortly after arriving abroad, she was injected with an unknown substance and later woke up in a hospital with her abdomen bandaged.

Edafe said the victim was eventually abandoned in Lagos before finding her way back to Delta State.

Medical examination according to the police, confirmed that her womb had been removed without her consent.

Edafe said the suspects are in custody, while investigations continue.
