A man, Nasiru Abdullahi, was reportedly stabbed to death by suspected phone snatchers in Gwagwalada, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The incident occurred on Sunday night around 10:47pm near Mumai Plaza in the Kasuwa Dare area.

According to a resident, Aliyu Ishaq,the man was walking and talking on his phone by the roadside when two assailants on a motorcycle confronted him.

The attackers stabbed him in the chest before stealing his phone and fleeing.

Ishaq, who was closing his shop nearby, heard the man screaming and saw him lying on the ground in a pool of blood.

The witness said the vigilantes arrived at the scene, and Abdullahi, still breathing, told them he was attacked by hoodlums who took his phone.

He was taken to a hospital, where he later died due to blood loss.

Another vigilante, Salisu Yakubu, confirmed the attack, saying the assailants attacked the victim with a knife before escaping.

The police in Gwagwalada confirmed the incident but referred all questions to the command’s headquarters.

However, the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, could not be reached for comment.
