The Jigawa State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has arrested three suspected armed robbers and fraudsters during a joint security operation in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area.
The command said the operation was carried out in the early hours of Friday, January 10, 2026, around 2am at Bariki Fulani Settlement, Rugar Fulani, and Kwangara village, all within the Sundumina District of Birnin Kudu LGA.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, the operation involved personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.
SP Adam disclosed the identities of the three suspects arrested during the raid as Adamu Abubakar (30), Sale Yakubu, (30) and Mamman Saidu (17).
He said a thorough search conducted during the operation led to the recovery of several incriminating items, including one locally made gun, two red Boxer motorcycles, eight pieces of counterfeit 50,000 Somalia shilling notes, five Tecno mobile phones (including two keypad models), one power bank, a knife, and a machete as well as the sum of N289,620, suspected to be proceeds of criminal activities.
He said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly specialized in luring unsuspecting victims to the area under the pretext of exchanging foreign currency.
Victims were reportedly ambushed and robbed of their valuables upon arrival at the agreed locations, the command added.
The police spokesperson noted that the suspects are currently in custody, adding that investigations are ongoing to uncover other members of the criminal network and ensure diligent prosecution.
