The police in Bayelsa State have arrested one Henry Samuel for alleged involvement in hard drugs business and armed robbery.

A statement from police spokesperson in the state, DSP Asinim Butswat, said the arrest resulted from intensive operations on hideouts of armed robbers and suspected cultists in the state.

He said: “Our men on April 23, 2018 clamped down on cultists and armed robbers, which led to the arrest of one Henry Samuel, a notorious drug baron and leader of an armed robbery gang.”

He added that, “Following interrogation and confession of an armed robbery suspect, operatives of the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (FSARS),Yenagoa, stormed the residence of one Henry Samuel, 33 years, a kingpin of a notorious armed robbery gang at Ovom, Yenagoa.

“Upon thorough search of his house, the operatives recovered the following items; one Browning Pistol with three rounds of live ammunition; one locally made revolver pistol with four rounds of live ammunition; one locally made single barrel pistol, with four live AAA cartridges; one Toshiba laptop, three phones, four daggers and one basin full of bags of weed suspected to be Indian hemp.”

He disclosed that the police have intensified efforts to arrest other gang members and charge them to court.
