Suspected ‘sara-suka’ leader stabs man to death in Jos

A suspected gang leader of a criminal group known as ‘sara-suka’ at the weekend stabbed to death one Adamu, a youth in Jos, Plateau State.

The state police command yesterday confirmed that three persons have been arrested while the whereabouts of the gang leader referred to as ‘Dan Musba’ is still unknown.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Tyopev Terna, described the suspect at large as a notorious criminal who had been arrested and charged to court on three different occasions.

Earlier, news had circulated that Adamu was stabbed at ‘Shagari Corner’ in Jos North LGA of the state by a commander of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) but the group’s state Welfare Commander, Ahmad Mudi, denied that the crime was perpetrated by a member of the VGN.

Mudi however told our correspondents that angry youths had attempted to burn down the home of the said commander in the area on the assumption that he was an associate of the suspected gang leader.

Daily Trust reports that suspected members of the ‘sara-suka’ gang had two weeks ago stabbed to death a deputy commander of the VGN when he was returning from West of Mines area of Jos.
