The police in Niger State have arrested an 18- year- old Mohammed Usman aka Small of Tunga Area of Minna for allegedly locking a commercial motorcyclist in his hotel room and stole his bike.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed that Usman was arrested alongside Mohammed Abdullahi (22) of Paiko, for conspiracy, theft of motorcycles, and receiving stolen property.
Usman allegedly tricked a commercial motorcyclist into entering his hotel room in Tunga, locked him inside, and fled with the motorcycle.
Abiodun said he later took the stolen bike to one Abdullahi in Paiko for sale.
According to the police spokesperson, Abdullahi, already under investigation for a previous assault case, led the police to Usman at a mining site in Paikoro where he was waiting for the proceeds from the sales of the bike.
He said two motorcycles were recovered during the operation, with Usman admitting stealing one from Obajana, Kogi State.
In a related incident, the command recovered a Toyota Corolla with registration number EPE 94 FT, reportedly stolen on March 21, 2025 in Kubwa, Abuja.
Abiodun said the vehicle was tracked and found abandoned along the Dikko-Maje road on March 23.
