Speaking to Trustsports yesterday, the Lobi Stars vice-captain said the handlers of the team should not lose any sleep over the recent withdrawals of some of the foreign based players as he said once the necessary confidence is reposed in the home based players, they will do the nation proud.

The defender who was part of the Eagles camp in London before the 2010 World Cup in South Africa said the coach Austin Eguaveon led coaching crew has drilled them enough and what most of them are waiting for now is August 11 when they hope to justify the confidence shown in them by Nigerians.

He said in as much as he would not like to underrate the Koreans, if they take anything for granted following the reported withdrawals of some of the better known Eagles, they would be in for a rude shock in their backyard.

“I am happy to be part of this team. I missed the opportunity to be at the 2010 World Cup but that was not my time. I believe my time has come and I want to give my best to justify the confidence reposed in me by the coaches who invited me to camp.

“I am not talking about myself only but the rest of my team mates because we may not have this kind of opportunity again. I want to assure Nigerians that we are going to make them proud and at the same time, make a name for ourselves.

Suswam maintained that Nigerian football fans have continued to clamour for inclusion of home based players in the Super Eagles and if the opportunity comes knocking, he would not hesitate to grab it with both hands.

He said: “This is a rare opportunity. It is now left for us to pay back those Nigerians who have been calling for home based players to be made integral part of the Super Eagles. I am optimistic that we would beat Korea and send the right signals for Nigerian football”, he reiterated.
