The victims aged between 19 and 14 were reportedly working on their family farm when the trio of the herdsmen accosted them, raped and killed two while the other escaped by the whisker.
Suswam who revealed this during a chat with newsmen in Makurdi  said that he was worried about the unwarranted development as the attackers had no justifiable reason to carry out the cruel act.
“I’m beginning to think that there is something more to this development. I have done everything possible to ensure that Fulani people cohabit peacefully with their host communities but the criminally minded ones want us to live in crises.
“It is sad that a group of Fulani raped three Tiv girls who went to their farm to work and killed two of them even when the young girls did nothing to provoke them. One of the attackers has already been arrested and he is in the police custody. I’m very worried about the development, if we don’t control this, it will denigrate rapidly,” he said.
The governor also intimated that he has arranged to meet with the national leader of the herdsmen to nib the trend in the bud as there were still reported cases of such unprovoked attacks on some communities in the state.
Spokesman of the state police command, DSP. Daniel Ezeala had earlier said that the arrested suspect who confessed to the crime is helping in ongoing investigation and would be charged to court soon.
He noted that the evil men had traced the girls to their farm where they were working and killed two of them, leaving the other seriously injured. He said that a police search party with support from the civilian task force had apprehended the culprit but his accomplice are still at large.
