The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has urged the speaker of the state assembly, Gabriel Dewan, to swear in the 16 APC and Labour Party members who were declared winners by the Appeal Court.
Recall that the speaker in January said he would not swear in the new members until the court’s determination on the suit filed by the sacked 16 PDP lawmakers.
However, the appellate court on Tuesday dismissed the suit and fined the sacked lawmakers N128 million for seeking review of its judgment that sacked them on the strength that their party lacked structure to sponsor candidates.
Referring to Tuesday’s judgment, APC, in a statement in Jos by its assistant state publicity secretary, Nimzing Pyennap, called on the speaker to swear in the new members without any delay since the appellate court had reaffirmed them as the authentic winners of the election.
