Synergos Nigeria, a catalyst for systems thinking in Nigeria and West Africa using reflection, bridging leadership and collaboration has held diversity dialogue on the future of Nigerian agriculture.  

The discourse which focuses on driving a truly inclusive economy through youth in agriculture was held Tuesday in Abuja with stakeholders drawn from various sectors of the nation’s economy.  

Speaking with journalists at the event, Adewale Ajadi, the Country Director, Synergos, said the programme was about ethnic conflict essentially in the agricultural context in Nigeria, citing example of -herdsmen-farmer and how the country could harness the potentials of its diversity for better food production systems.    

Ajadi noted that agriculture would  propel Nigeria into the world excellence as it hold the solutions to disease, wellbeing  and effective nutrition, adding that empowering women and young people  to turn thing around was going to be very powerful.  

The Founder and Chair, Synergos, Peggy Dulany stated that the organisation is in Nigeria to consider how different groups-farmers, others, are working together to create great agriculture in Nigeria; stressing that “we’re building trust across divide so that people can trust each other enough to say the truth as they see it but in a collaborative ways to form the kinds of initiatives that will lead to higher productivity.”  

She said Bill and Malinda Gate Foundation is funding Synergos to work with all groups in Nigeria to improve food production.  

The Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Protection, Mrs Maryam Uwais, said her office has so far engaged 40,000 youths from the 774 local governments working in agriculture.
