Former Minister Defense General Theophilus Y. Danjuma (Rtd) on Wednesday urged President Goodluck Jonathan to order the arrest of Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo- Asari and all others who issued threat of war should the president fails to win re-election. Ex- militants including Dokubo-Asari, leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force; Victor Ben Ebikabowei, aka, Boy Loaf and Government Ekpudomenowei, aka, Tompolo in an event hosted by the Bayelsa governor Seriake Dickson in Yenogoa threatened to destabilise the country should President Jonathan be defeated at the February 14 poll. Speaking in an interview at the North West University, Kano shortly after commissioning the Kwankwasiyya City built by the Kano state government, Danjuma said the ex-militants should be punished for their unguarded utterances. He described the statement as inflammatory and the height of provocation adding that the unity of the country cannot be negotiated. “The statements were very reckless coming from irresponsible individuals and they should be condemned, in fact they should be arrested,” Danjuma said. Urging politicians to desist from uttering inflammatory statements, he said politicians have key roles to play in uniting Nigeria. “Politicians should be wary of their provocative and inflammatory statements while campaigning in this crucial time of the general election. Campaigns should be issue based not attacking individuals,” he said.
