He appealed to corporate organisations and individuals to sponsor the federation’s players to tournaments abroad and also sponsor national tournaments.

According to Oguntade, talents abound in the country but they require regular competitions within and outside the country.

He said he was happy that some Nigerian players were plying their trade with foreign clubs, notably with teams in Europe, where they are exposed to better training facilities and play for their various clubs.

He said the players’s stay abroad was beneficial to the federation as it offered them employment opportunities.

On the just-concluded 19th Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, the secretary apologised for the failure to win any medal. (NAN)

He said the federation paraded some young players at the Games, who made their international debut in India and hoped they had learnt some lessons at the Games.

He said NTTF would continue to groom young players to replace the olders ones as well as to field different players in tournaments.
