NTF secretary Chinedu-Ezeala-Ogundare told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos that the seminar scheduled for April 18 to April 21 would hold at the Indoor Sports Hall, National Stadium, Lagos.

She said that the programme was for athletes who had participated in taekwondo competitions and won medals as well as certified national coaches.

“The workshop is open to these two categories of athletes and coaches and is to ensure that they are abreast with new rules and body technology used in intercontinental events,’’ she said.

The secretary said that arrangements had been made to acquire modern equipment before the national camping for the 2012 London Olympic qualifiers and the All Africa Games in Mozambique.

According to her, the modern equipment are Protector Scoring System (PSS), Electronic Socks (ES), Instant Video Replay System (IVRS), Electronic Body Protector (EBP) and hand gloves.

“We will make the videos of these items available during the workshop to initiate them to the trend before we acquire them for practical training,’’ she added.

Ogundare-Ezeala explained that facilitators at the workshop were highly recommended and participants would benefit from their wealth of experience.

NTF national coach Osita Egwim commended the initiative for the workshop, saying that it would enhance the development of the sport in the country.

“This is what we need to update the knowledge of our athletes and coaches in order to prepare them for major international events,’’ he said.
