Take noble path of faith, don tells Muslims

Dr. Abdul-Hameed, who stated this recently  at the National Higher Institution Convention of Muslim Students (NHICOMS), themed “People of Faith, Learning and Courage” held at the University of Ilorin, said courage, valour, fearlessness and boldness are recognised as the basic qualities of a successful personality.
“Courage and fearlessness are the signs of manliness and in many tasks they serve as a bridge to success which was demonstrated by the Islam forbearers to a very large extent. The Present day Muslims must wake up from their slumbers and pursue the noble path of faith, learning and courage as directed by Allah”, he said.  
The don said that the manner in which the companions of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) went forward with the Islamic movement, the sacrifices which they made in support of him, and the zeal and enthusiasm with which they worked for spreading the message of Islam, carry a good lesson for all human beings of the world, especially the Muslims.
He said, “Islam is an all-embracing mode of life. Not only does it prescribe beliefs but also the rules of social behaviour, the moral rights and duties. Moreover, it occupies itself with the nicer application and functioning of its laws.”
He said that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was the most merciful person, adding that he was merciful to his family, followers, and friends, even enemies, adding that he was merciful to young and old, to humans and to animals.
National President of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, Mallam AbdulAzeez Sirajudeen Folayemi, said, “The theme of the convention was carefully selected to arouse the Muslim students to the perquisite of learning and being courageous in the present dispensation especially in the face of educational sector which poses threat to their Islamic profession and practice.”
He said that the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria established on 18th April 1954 was in response to the yearning of Muslim students for a platform to discuss and find solutions to their common problems.
He urged “Mr.  President to address the nation on why the nation is under siege by terrorists, why has the insurgency continued to beat the nation’s military.”
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali represented by the chairman, Unilorin Muslim Community, Prof. B.L. Adeleke commended MSSN for organising the convention, imploring them to always extend hands of fellowship to other faiths as a way of promoting the mission of the founding fathers of the society.
