In a statement, New Age Outlook said students whose interest the strike sought to protect were now roaming the streets and constituting threats to national security because they were currently idle.
“Even if strike is inevitable and a continuation by other methods, when it lasts too long as it is now, it becomes unpopular, unwholesome, anarchic and destructive to its normal cause,” said Elijah Okougbo, chairman of New Age Outlook.
“After all, strike is a means to an end  and not an end in itself. It is neither a cocktail nor a dinner party. It takes brains and maturity to manage it successfully without causing casualties to both parties. We don’t know if those that lead ASUU today are aware of this caveat.”
He said since the Federal government  has intervened in the crisis through negotiation, it was necessary for ASUU to suspend its strike in order to promote lasting peace.
He said: “The appeals of parents and guardians should not be underestimated and discountenanced by ASUU if it is genuinely interested in joining hands to redeem the fallen standards by restoring quality education in Nigeria.
