He spoke in the wake of long-running speculations that he may leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking with journalists after collecting his permanent voter’s card at JNI Primary School polling unit in Tambuwal, Sokoto State, yesterday, the speaker said whether to join APC or remain in the PDP or whether to go for the presidency or governorship of his state would be decided by his people, who he said he was still consulting with them.
He added that he would make the outcome public at the right time.
Tambuwal advised INEC to  consider conducting elections in the North-Eastern states, saying the level of crisis there is not enough to stop elections in those states. Citing the successful local government election in Yobe State, Tambuwal  added  that even in Afghanistan and other war zones elections are held.
He lamented that welfare of security agents deployed to battle insurgents in affected states is not being  attended to despite the huge resources appropriated to the army by the National Assembly.
“I passed through the areas recently and the condition in which I saw our soldiers is pathetic and these are the people we sent to curtail insurgency in the area. On our part, we have done our best because we have given them all that they have demanded to fight the war including the extension of the emergency rule,” he said.
Tambuwal also advised INEC to improve on the processes of election by exercising their true independence.
