He said the move became necessary in view of the high percentage of parents who deliberately frustrate government’s efforts to educate children.
The governor was speaking during a visit by religious, traditional and political leaders from the state. He added that the measure was aimed at boosting school enrolment and providing quality education for every child as required by local and international laws.
Tambuwal warned that anyone caught flouting the new law would not be spared as the state government had made adequate arrangements to cater for the educational needs of citizens.
As part of measures to enhance implementation of the policy, he disclosed that the government would build and equip 240 primary and tertiary healthcare centres in the three senatorial zones of the state.
He recalled that founders of the Sokoto Caliphate made their mark in education and scholarships, and there should be no excuse for their successors to fail to provide at least basic education for succeeding generations.
