The Tanzanian National Election Commission (NEC)’s  Chairman Damian Lubavu says the electoral body was not selective in its announcement of the country’s presidential results from constituencies.

While opposition Chadema Ukawa said they were scared of going out to celebrate in Das Es Salam due to the presence of armed policemen in major junctions in the city. 

Daily Trust correspondent reports that even the ruling CCM supporters were not seen going round the city. 

Police used tear gas to disperse crowds in Muleba Town on Tuesday as residents rejected the parliamentary results announced early in the day.

The African Union (AU) Commonwealth and Southern African Development Community (SADC) will address the press later in the day.
