Taraba gov directs annual convocations for state-owned tertiary institutions

Taraba State governor, Agbu Kefas, has mandated that all state-owned tertiary institutions conduct annual convocation ceremonies.

The directive came following his attendance at the convocation of the College of Education, Zing, where he noted that the institution’s last event took place in 1994-over two decades ago.

At the combined convocation, the College of Education, Zing celebrated the graduation of 19,700 students, marking its first convocation since it last held the event at its former Jalingo location in 1994.

Governor Kefas, concerned by this long interval, ordered that convocations now be held yearly across all state-owned tertiary institutions.

He emphasised his administration’s commitment to establishing the College of Education, Zing as the premier centre for teacher training in the state.

To ensure the implementation of this directive, Governor Kefas instructed the college management to form a committee dedicated to organising annual convocations. He also praised the college’s leadership for their ongoing commitment to educational excellence.

The governor underscored the critical role of education in empowering youth and supporting community development.

Addressing the graduates, he urged them to embrace a service-oriented mindset, recognising that true fulfillment lies in positively impacting others’ lives.
