A gang of bandits suspected to be kidnappers on Saturday invaded Primary Board area in Jalingo metropolis leading residents of the area to scamper for safety.

It was gathered that two sons of a retired judge were abducted by the kidnappers and negotiation has started between the retired judge and the kidnappers.

The kidnappers reportedly fired shots sporadically but no one was killed.

Our correspondent reports that the sound of the gunshots, which was heard in many parts of the metropolis, lasted over an hour.

The police spoke person in the state, DSP David Misal  confirmed the incident and said efforts are being made by the police to rescue the two abducted persons.

The area located by river Lamurde has been a target of kidnappers. Five persons including a pregnant woman were abducted in the area in the last few months.
