Taraba rice farmers receive improved seeds

National president of Mega Rice farmers Association, Mustapha Ahmadu handling over 25 kg improved Rice seeds to a farmer in Jalingo.

Mega Rice farmers Association has distributed improved rice seeds to its members in Taraba State.

The National president of the Association, Alhaji Mustapha Ahmadu, advised beneficiaries to ensure that they planted the seeds provided to them.

He said  the Faro 44 Rice seeds  were provided by the Federal  Ministry of Agriculture and  is the  best so far  in yield and  pests resistance.

Mustapha Ahmadu, who is also the Sarkin Noma of Adamawa State, said it was expected that very soon, the seeds will be more available to farmers.

He encouraged farmers to concentrate more on rice farming because it is a major food staple in the country, hence there is a high demand and good price for the product.

The president said farmers who engaged in rice farming have made good fortune, adding that farming is now a profitable venture.

He commended the federal government for providing incentives to farmers which enable more people to embark on farming.

He also discouraged farmers from taking loans but rather utilise their resources to expand their activities.
